Short-Term Virtual Academic Research Fellowships
Diana Korzenik Virtual Research Fellowships
The American Antiquarian Society seeks applications for a pilot fellowship program intended to address the equity and access issues faced by a range of scholars in using the research collections. These virtual fellowships will be offered as a bridge to assist those scholars who cannot work onsite at AAS in moving forward with their work.
The Society is offering three Diana Korzenik Virtual Fellowships for the following fellowship cycle.
- September 2023 - August 2024
(Application deadline: May 31, 2023)
Eligibility
Applicants must submit the following materials:
- Current CV
- A description of proposed research project (no more than two double-spaced pages)
- An explanation of the circumstances that preclude taking an onsite fellowship (no more than one double-spaced page)
- A one-page bibliography of relevant secondary literature, list of other sources of funding for the project
- The names and contact information for two references (referees should be able to speak to the research proposal at hand)

The experience for Diana Korzenik Virtual Fellows will reflect the onsite fellowship experience as much as possible. Fellows will participate in fellows’ talks, currently offered only via Zoom. AAS will facilitate interaction between and among all fellows, on and off site.
Stipend
Each fellow will receive a stipend of $3,000 along with an image allowance of $500 for up to 100 JPEG scans.
Length of Term
Access to digitized collections, both free and paywall-protected, will be for three months. A designated staff member will connect them with materials (via document camera) as time allows within the duration of the three month fellowship.
