The Polynesian is an English-language newspaper published by James Jackson Jarves (1818-1888) of Boston from 1840-1841, and again from 1844-1864, by James Fowle Baldwin Marshall (1818-1891). The paper occasionally printed in the Hawaiian language. From 1844 to 1860, The Polynesian functioned as the official printer of laws and notices of the Hawaiian government. The Polynesian also supported Protestant Christianity.
