Bainbridge's victory: or Huzza for the Constitution, once more! Engagement between the United States frigate Constitution, and the British frigate Java

The third of this series on the battle between Constitution and Java—along with Naval Victory and Glorious Naval Victory—Bainbridge’s Victory is another text in the Decatur’s Victory format, four lines with a two-line chorus. The author reviews Constitution’s voyage, during which the crew got word of other victorious naval battles until at last “’twas time for our Frigate to play her next part.” The battle happens quickly; only a brief reference to the damage is made but the language is straightforward and graphic: “the decks were all cover’d with cor[p]ses and gore,” phrases that would appeal to the buyers on the street.
