Semiannual Meeting 2020

Thursday, April 23, 2020 - 6:00pm to 9:00pm

Century Association, 7 West 43rd. Street, New York, New York

  • Reception, hosted by AAS Councilor Paul S. Sperry, begins at 6 pm
  • Business meeting begins at 7 pm, followed by a talk by David D. Hall
  • Reception continues afterwards until 9 pm

The meeting will feature “The Past Is Not What It Used to Be,” a talk by David D. Hall, Bartlett Professor of New England Church History Emeritus, Harvard Divinity School, and author most recently of The Puritans: A Transatlantic History (2019).

In this talk, Professor Hall asks: Where have we come from and where are we going in our self-understanding as Americans? These old questions—old as the founding of the republic, if not older—have taken on a new pertinence. Does 1620 remain relevant, and/or do the much maligned (and alternatively admired) Puritans?

Members whose street addresses are current will also receive an invitation in the mail.

The meeting is free of charge to AAS members and their guests but R.S.V.P. is required.

R.S.V.P. by April 15 online here,

or by contacting Gabriella Grilla at ggrilla@mwa.org or (508) 471-2141
