In this virtual program, Craig Fehrman will share behind-the-scenes details and images from his new book on the Lewis and Clark expedition. Viewers will learn about a lost interview with Wolf Calf, a Piikani man who met Lewis in 1806; look at pages from Clark's forgotten college notebook; and see two newspapers ads, one that led an expedition sergeant to enlist and the other that reveals much about the life of York, a Black man Clark enslaved. (The newspaper ads came from the AAS's holdings.) Fehrman will also be joined in conversation by AAS president Scott Casper.
Craig Fehrman spent five years writing This Vast Enterprise. His first book, Author in Chief, was described by The Wall Street Journal as “one of the best books on the American presidency to appear in recent years.” Fehrman lives in Indiana with his wife and children.
