Heaven give you many many merry days.
Description
This card, designed by C.C. Coleman, won third prize in the 1881 Christmas card competition. The back of the card features a short poem by New England poet Celia Thaxter. Thee card depicts an unlikely Christmas still life scene with an Oriental vase filled with blooming cherry blossoms. A stringed instrument, a drink in a martini glass, rosary beads and an open book are on a table with a cloth featuring the greeting "Heaven send you many many merry days. A painting hangs on the wall which depicts the birth of Christ against a papered wall. Through the stained glass windows at top, snow-covered roofs are seen, the only hint of winter in this scene.
