Description
This map shows the action of battle in and around Charleston, South Carolina, during the early days of the Civil War. Prang published maps chronicling the battles within days after they happened to keep those in and around Boston abreast of the action, allowing citizens to follow along in the war. The money from Civil War maps like this enabled Prang and his family to be able to afford to travel to Europe and study new methods in lithographic printing in the 1860s.
