Longtime AAS Council member Meridith D. Wesby (elected April 1981) died on January 7, 2024. Wesby served on the Council for fourteen years (1994–2008), eight of those as recording secretary. She was the niece of former councilor Fred Harris Daniels (elected October 1956) and Eleanor Goddard Daniels, who deeded the Goddard-Daniels House to AAS. Wesby was devoted to community service, notably to organizations serving women and girls. In 2002 she cofounded the Women’s Initiative of the United Way of Central Massachusetts. As a member and officer of the Fred Harris Daniels foundation, she led the foundation to focus on helping underserved middle-school-aged girls
