James Blanco

James Blanco is a senior managing director at Guggenheim Securities, the investment banking arm of Guggenheim Partners. He has advised on some of the largest strategic transactions in U.S. financial services including the sale of Silicon Valley Bank, the sale of First Republic Bank, the acquisition of ING Direct and he has structured and executed over $20 billion of equity issuance, equity-linked and high yield debt for financial services clients. He is based in New York.

Blanco is a member of the ILR Dean’s Advisory Council at Cornell University, a Trustee of the CUNY Graduate Center Foundation, a Trustee of the Hispanic Society Museum and Library, and Co-Chair of the Kingsbridge Heights Community Center. He serves on the investments committee of the Bibliographical Society of America and is a member of the Economic Club of New York.

Prior to joining Guggenheim, he served as the Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Development of OneMain Financial where he was a member of the firm’s executive committee for the national consumer finance leader with over 9,500 employees serving 2.2 million customers across 44 states. He spent 13 years at Barclays Investment Bank where he held a series of positions of increasing responsibility in the financial institutions group and securitized products business.

He holds degrees from Cornell, New York University, the City University of New York and the Columbia Business School.
