1944-2023
George F. (Geof ) Booth II (elected October 1991) died on December 24, 2023. Booth, whose grandfather was the publisher of the Worcester Telegram and Evening Gazette (predecessors of the current Telegram and Gazette) going back to 1899, grew up in Worcester and spent his own career in the publishing industry. After military service in Vietnam, for which he earned several service awards, Booth worked as an executive for a number of TimeLife publications: Life, Money, Travel & Leisure, Food & Wine, and Gourmet. He then moved to The Washington Post, and after retirement returned to Worcester. Booth supported several Worcester-area cultural institutions, including serving on the AAS Council from 1996 to 2002.
