The School Gazette was published at the Center School in Walpole, Norfolk County, Mass. around 1849. It includes moralistic reflections, articles about nature, death, and education, and puzzles. Names of the students are penciled-in and includes Susan Bonney, Emily Cox (ca. 1834- ), John Blackburn (ca. 1835- ), John Merrick (ca. 1836- ), Kate Clapp, Abby Frances Clap (ca. 1837- ), Lissie Nason (ca. 1834- ), E. There were various schoolhouses built in Walpole, Norfolk County, Mass. between the late 18th and mid 19th century. While there were a few built on the south, west, and north sections of the town, most of the attention and funding was given to the schoolhouses in the center area by the town commons. The second schoolhouse was built between 1822-1823 on the corner of West and Elm Streets. By the late 1840s, the old schoolhouses that had been built were inadequate for the number of students of the Center School District. In 1850, the Center School was built, which housed both the high school and grade school.
