Children's Novel Set During the Revolution

At the end of the nineteenth century, authors frequently set children’s books during the events of the Revolutionary War. Edith Robinson created the heroine Nanny Bradstreet, a sea captain’s daughter sent to live with relatives in Boston after her mother’s death. Nanny ardently supports the Patriot cause: she wears homespun clothing, refuses to drink British tea, and becomes caught in a mob when visiting the Liberty Tree.
