Amateur Times (Ellenville, NY). June 30th, 1876.
This amateur newspaper celebrates the centennial of the Declaration of Independence. The printers featured a fancy multi-colored masthead and used red ink for the outer pages and blue ink for the interior pages. Most amateur newspapers are small format and were produced using table-top hobby presses. Given its larger size, the teenaged publishers Oscar F. Freileweh (b. 1858) and George O. Townsend (b. 1859), likely printed The Amateur Times on a large floor-standing press.
