The New-Jersey Gazette

Some people consider The Plain Dealer of Bridgeton of 1775-76—a handwritten news bulletin posted on the wall of a local tavern―to be New Jersey’s first newspaper. However, the first printed paper was The New-Jersey Gazette of Burlington, established on December 5, 1777, and published by Isaac Collins. The paper lasted just two months in Burlington before Collins moved it to Trenton.
