This resource provides access to primary sources printed in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (the Hawaiian language) or created by Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians) before 1900. Most were published in the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi. For more information on the history of printing in Hawaii, visit Early Printing in Hawaiian.

The AAS General Catalog contains detailed records for nearly 300 titles published in the Hawaiian language between 1822 and 1900, in addition to many other English-language Hawaiian materials.

The digital library below provides direct access to approximately one third of AAS's Hawaiian language collection. Newspapers, engravings, lithographs, and a selection of books are included.
