Access to the Library

As the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has eased restrictions for libraries, the American Antiquarian Society has begun a phased reopening of its library reading room. As a result, the Society is accepting virtual reading room appointments starting after June 14, 2021.

Virtual Reading Room Appointments
These visits allow researchers to view library materials remotely, and will be conducted by reference services staff via Zoom. Please keep in mind not all collection material is suitable for a remote visit based on size or condition.

Virtual reading room reservations for researchers can be reserved in one-hour blocks, Monday to Friday, by following the link below. When you select an appointment for virtual access a member of the Society’s Readers’ Services staff will be in contact with you to confirm and finalize the schedule.
