Boston Feby 7 1865
Dear Miss Chase
I am just now-favored with your letter of the 1st inst.--I should have received it some days sooner ha it been directed to me, No 49 Franklin St. Boston.
My friends and myself feel a deep interest in the education of the poor children in the South – white or black.
It so happens that we are largely involved in aiding the Freedmen, women + children. A few of us in Dorchester support several teachers, and the Ladies have contributed liberally in clothing, -- So I fear I shall not be able to do much for your charity at present. It is a noble work + I shall not forget it.
Very Respectf. Yrs,
Daniel Denny
