Saturday Seminar:
Teaching "Eyes on the Prize"
Led by Dr. Janette Greenwood, associate professor of history at
Clark
University
Saturday, October 7, 2006
8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Old Sturbridge Village
Old Sturbridge Village will provide an appropriate backdrop for this
seminar on the Second Great Awakening, including a reenactment of a
revival sermon in the Village Meeting House. This seminar will also
include a look at primary source materials such as sermons and conversion
narratives that will help bring the religious fervor and the urgency for
reform movements to life.
Each seminar is worth 5 PDPs, and you are expected to attend the entire
event. You do not have to be enrolled in the fall Teaching American
History (TAH) course to be eligible to register for the Saturday seminars,
but you must be a teacher in the Worcester, Millbury, or Sutton public
school districts. Some pre-reading may be required. Space is limited.
