Photographic Services: Photographs, Digital Scans, Transparency Rentals, and 35 mm Color Slides Reproduction quality photoduplications of materials in the collection are offered for scholarly and commercial use, NO LARGER than 600 dpi. Be advised that some orders will not be eligible for resolution larger than 300 dpi. Orders will be processed and filled in two to four weeks for digital photographs or scans and four to eight weeks for slides. All requests for photoduplication must be submitted in writing to the department of graphic arts. Readers may not use their own cameras in the reading room or carrels. In certain exceptional cases, to be determined by the head of readers services or curator of graphic arts, permission to use a camera under direct supervision may be granted subject to a minimum service fee of $25. Arrangements must be made in advance. Use Transparencies are rented and must be returned to the Society. Available only for transparencies already on file. Slides purchased for personal use may not be published without permission. A reproduction request form is available online. Orders should include as much information about the requested image as possible, including photocopies of the image if one is available. This helps to expedite your order and ensure that the correct image is photographed for you. Once an order has been placed, a confirmation of the order will be sent to you. Prepayment of invoices is required. For your convenience, the Society accepts payment by Mastercard, Visa, Discover, American Express. You may also pay by check, which should be made payable to the American Antiquarian Society. Please call ahead if you have questions about payment by check. Orders are handled in the order in which they are received. Please allow 4 weeks for delivery of reproductions. Rush service is available at an additional 100% cost; be advised this service is only available to those who supply credit card details at time of order. All other orders wishing to be processed as soon as possible are strongly encouraged to provide credit card details. Permission to reproduce material from the collection must be granted through a license agreement and is at the discretion of the American Antiquarian Society. All licensing is granted on a per use basis. Images cannot be altered without special permission from the American Antiquarian Society. Images used on the World Wide Web must be posted at a dpi no greater than 72. The user of supplied photoduplicated materials assumes all responsibilities for using them in conformity with existing copyright laws.
