Before the Advent of Bridezilla

“One Hour of Joy,” from Fisher's Drawing Room Scrap Book. London: Fisher, Son, & Co., 1844.

Catalog Record | Enlarged Image | Adopt a Gift Book Home

The Society’s collection includes several British gift books which were, of course, sold in American book shops and competed side by side with their U.S. counterparts. This plate appears in a gift book published in London and sold in New York, Paris, and Boston. The lovely bride and her attendants stand before a tall mirror -- the light-colored gown and long veil reflect the style of dress made popular by Queen Victoria at her wedding to Prince Albert in 1840.
