I Think I Shall Never See a Plate as Lovely as This Tree

“Presentation plate” from Coral gift, New York: J.C. Riker, 129 Fulton-Street, 1851.

Catalog Record | Enlarged Image | Adopt a Gift Book Home

Many gift books included finely engraved presentation plates to mark the gift from one person to another. This presentation plate places the inscription on a tree, as if it were carved into the bark. In the background is a park scene, with a sculpture of a Greek couple embracing near a pond.

Adopted by Jeffrey and Rebecca Morin in honor of Fern & Ann Ferland, Christmas 2012
