A Mother's Treasures

“Household Treasures” from Affection’s gift, Philadelphia: Published by E.H. Butler & Co., 1854.

Catalog Record | Enlarged Image | Adopt a Gift Book Home

As women were the target audience for most gift books, scenes of mothers and children were extremely popular. Here, a mother, looking tired after running around after two children all day, takes a moment to relax and watches as her young boy blows bubbles in front of his sister. The patriarch of the family is not forgotten and is seen by way of a portrait in an ornate frame hanging on the wall.

Adopted by Ed Hood in honor of Nan Wolverton
