McLoughlin Bros. Collection - 1997 Addition

The 1997 addition of materials to the McLoughlin Bros. Collection was purchased from dealer Justin Schiller. This acquisition includes 128 picture books (housed in the Children's Literature Collection), about 710 pieces of original artwork (housed in the Graphic Arts Collection), 126 sheets of cover proofs (housed in the Graphic Arts Collection), 21 publisher's catalogs and price lists (housed in the Children's Literature Collection), 22 paste-up book dummies (housed in the Children's Literature Collection), and 42 original manuscripts (housed in the Manuscripts Collection).

For several decades, this material was kept in warehouse space used by Grosset & Dunlap, one of the more recent owners of the McLoughlin Bros. publishing name. The artwork and picture books were conserved with funding provided by the Heald Foundation. The picture books and catalogs were cataloged with funding provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the inventory of the drawings and cover art was funded by a grant from an anonymous donor.
