Internships

Thank you for considering an internship at the American Antiquarian Society.

The American Antiquarian Society (AAS) is a national research library located in Worcester, Massachusetts. Founded in 1812, the Society's mission is to collect, preserve and make available for study the printed record of what is now the United States of America from the first European settlement through the year 1876. The library collection encompasses over three million books, pamphlets, newspapers, periodicals, graphic arts material, and manuscripts. AAS is open to the public, and serves a diverse audience including professional scholars, pre-collegiate, undergraduate and graduate level students and educators, professional artists and writers, genealogists and the general public.

There is a multitude of internship and volunteer opportunities available at AAS. Students interested in the fields of history, literature, library science, archival management and museum studies would find working at AAS to be an enriching experience, and one that would help them in their future careers.

Internships have three cycles, typically following the academic year . fall semester, spring semester, and summer. Six internships are offered each cycle.

  • Spring cycle: application and resume due by December 31st
  • Summer cycle: application and resume due by April 15th
  • Fall cycle: application and resume due by September 1st
