Sing me a Song, Piano Man
Cooperative printing between American and European firms became quite common after 1850 and this print is an example of a lithograph published in Germany and sold in the United States. Max Jacoby sold lithographs of European subjects in New York before and during the Civil War. This charming interior shows a moustached gentleman at the keys of an upright piano while two young women sing. In most American prints of this sort of subject, a woman would be playing.
