Consideration Begins at Home

Consideration Begins at Home

Marshall, Emma.  Consideration or How Can We Help One Another?  New York: Robert Carter & Brothers, 1870. Catalog Record | Enlarge Image | Adopt a Book Home

This is a collection of moral stories about how people can traverse the boundaries of social class and help each other.  The hero of this picture is actually the coachman, who braves the cold and rain to take a young woman to hear a minister lecture on the physical and spiritual needs of the poor.  Although the coachman gets seriously ill, his son is hired by the young woman to be her errand boy, a charitable act that is within her power.
