Mothers and Daughters

“TO MY DAUGHTER, AS THE EMBLEM OF HER SEX”

Verdi, Tullio Suzzara. Mothers and Daughters: Practical Studies for the Conservation of the Health of Girls. New York: J. B. Ford & Company, 1877 (c1876). Catalog Record | Enlarge Image | Adopt a Book Home

Although obviously concerned with female subject matter, this copy is inscribed “Johnie” in multiple places (presumably neither a mother or a daughter) which goes to show books can find their way to audiences other than those originally intended. The publisher’s advertisements in the back include many Beecher family publications, including from Harriet Beecher Stowe.

Adopted by Susan Forgit for Caitlin
