Teachers' Institute Broadside
Rice & Andrews. National Teachers' Institute and American Educational Union. New York: Rice & Andrews, 1857.
Established in 1857, this organization sought to place both teachers and
students in schools in the northeast, middle Atlantic states, and the
South. The company also sold books and educational apparatus to schools.
The state seals surrounding the text suggest that there was a desire for
nationwide recognition for the Teachers' Institute.
Purchased from
Aiglatson Books. Isaac Davis Fund.

"One day I am visited by a collector of ordination sermons; the next, by
a collector of 4th of July orations; then comes a collector of geography;
another wants religious newspapers; another wants every book printed in
New York before 1700. I accommodate myself to all; for I want every thing
and collect every thing, and I have more zeal than the whole of them: and
in this way I am kept very busy."
