Sitter has dark hair arranged with a braid over the top of her head and she wears a striped dress. Cheeks are tinted pink. Inside case is an advertisement for S. Peck which reads: "Improved Union Cases. S. Peck's patent, October 3, 1854. S. Peck & Co., New haven, CT., Are the sole manufacturers of the genuine Union Cases, of which, the latest improvement consists of the beautiful shades of color and fineness of texture and of having the hinges inserted in the metal; thus preventing the breaking out of the hinge." Behind the daguerreotype is a card for the photographer which reads: "Heywood's New England Mammoth Daguerreotype and Photographic Rooms, No. 228 Washington, Corner of Summer Street Boston. Ambrotypes or Pictures on glass, cheaper than any other place in Boston. Daguerreotypes by machinery and by our new double camera for 25 cents and upwards. In a Union Case (Krainik #493, S.
