he gift of Isaiah Thomas's own extensive library of books and newspapers and items he purchased specifically for the Society from Hannah Mather Crocker and others launched the American Antiquarian Society’s collections. Categories of collecting now include books, manuscripts, newspapers, graphic arts, and children’s literature. The collections assembled over two hundred years by gift and discriminating purchase will continue to grow and maintain the American Antiquarian Society’s reputation as an indispensable resource for everyone interested in studying the United States to 1876.
