Dr. S. Foster Haven - Foster Haven, the son of the Society’s librarian, was a practicing physician and skilled bibliographer. Haven completed the compilation of pre-Revolutionary imprints, a project begun by Isaiah Thomas and continued briefly by Christopher Columbus Baldwin. Haven created a list of 7,500 items printed before 1776 before his departure for the Civil War battlefields of Virginia. His work was issued as the appendix to the second edition of Thomas’s History of Printing (1874). Dr. S. Foster Haven, Jr. Carte de visite.
