Audubon, Birds of America - When John James Audubon visited Worcester in 1840 in search of subscribers for the octavo edition of The Birds of America, one was purchased by F. T. Merrick. While the Society was not a subscriber, this set of the work, originally issued in 100 parts, entered the collection almost a century later as a gift from his granddaughter. [record].
