Catalogue of Books, 1837 - There are a number of lists of the books in the Society’s collection. Thomas prepared several, lists of donations were published annually beginning in 1814, and the publication of a catalog was voted at the meeting of October 23, 1816. The Council also directed Baldwin to prepare a catalog of the Society’s collection, but it was incomplete at his death (Catalogue of Amer. Ant. Soc. Baldwin Papers, Folio vol. 18.3. AAS Archives). The work was finished and prepared for publication by Maturin Fisher, the acting librarian for two-and-a-half years, until the appointment of Baldwin’s successor, A Catalogue of Books in the Library of the American Antiquarian Society, in Worcester, Massachusetts (Worcester: Henry J. Howland, 1837), 12.
