The artist Archibald Robertson and the engraver Peter Maverick created an animated scene of firemen responding to an urban blaze for a certificate certifying appointment to the Firemen of the City of New York. The certificate was first printed in 1807, but the plate would have been retained and reprinted as needed. Edward Weir, the recipient of this copy, was appointed in 1812.
