The Story:

James F. Hunnewell avidly sought Massachusetts election sermons, forming a collection of 165 titles.  Because of his son’s donation of these important primary colonial American documents, AAS possesses the best extant holdings of New England election sermons. New-England Pleaded with is the earliest election sermon in the Hunnewell gift.
