Bookplates for selected AAS endowed acquisitions funds, various designers, 1965-2012.
As In Pursuit of a Vision demonstrates, AAS has built its collections over the last two hundred years through the generosity of many donors. Much has been done to encourage acquisition support and today there are ninety-two endowed funds for the purchase of historic material at the Society. Volumes are plated with special bookplates, a selection of which is shown here.
Of course, it is hoped that expansion of the collection through generous bequests, endowed funds and gifts continues. The enthusiasm of book, newspaper, manuscript, and art collectors, and their continued support, will remain essential as the Society moves into its third century.
