Around 1870, McLoughlin Brothers entered into a business arrangement with their competitors D. Appleton to publish Spanish language books for children. McLoughlin did the printing and  Appleton then distributed the titles to customers in Central America and Cuba. Other titles in the series included Robinson Crusoe, The White Cat and Cinderella
