This image of Molly Pitcher loading her husband’s cannon during the American Revolution propagates the story of the valiant woman who carried water to soldiers and helped fight the British.  The identity of Pitcher is a subject for much debate and some historians feel that she is a compilation of several women.  It is unknown whether this watercolor from the McLoughlin Brothers archives was made on speculation or produced for a specific publication.

Adopted by Tom Touchton in honor of Lee who has carried his water for 53 years
