Santa Sells the Book

Christmas Joys.  New York: McLoughlin Brothers, ca. 1899.

McLoughlin Brothers published this grand gift book containing stories, poems, and a picture on nearly every page.  Despite the cover design featuring a chromolithographed decal of Santa over a be-stockinged fireplace, the contents inside have nothing to do with Christmas; the image of Santa was used to sell the book for the Christmas gift market.
