This chromolithograph of an elaborate display at the Brooklyn Sanitary Fair of 1864 appeared in an official publication of the Brooklyn city council. One of five images in the set, this print shows a recreated New England kitchen that was built especially for the fair with an enormous fireplace and raised platform for spinning demonstrations. Women in costume served fair goers pork and beans, Boston brown bread and apple, pumpkin and mince pie to raise funds to support the Union troops.
