On the Road Again
Daily Huntsville Confederate (Marietta, Georgia). Dec. 9, 1863, vol. 1, no. 149.
This newspaper started in Huntsville, Alabama (hence the name), but as Union troops advanced, the publisher, J. Withers Clay moved the newspaper to Chattanooga, Tennessee, then to Marietta, Georgia, and finally to Dalton, Georgia, where it finally ceased in 1864. Besides news of the war, it contains advertisements for runaway slaves, list of captured slaves being held, and names of deserters.
