Newport’s first novel, Julia Glenroy, could really more accurately be described as a novella. In only 34 pages, the author manages to pack in a relatively sordid plot, with unsubtle strains of prostitution, drugs, seduction & rape, forlorn love, and a duel. One other copy is recorded, at Brown University.
