Didactic writer Harriet Newell Baker (1815-1893) wrote a many number of moral stories for children under the pen name “Madeline Leslie,” including this one about an upright family of robins that continually escape capture by a boy and his sister.  This humorous illustration by artist Hammatt Billings (1818-1874) shows the siblings and robins sharing a harmonious moment in the parlor.
