S. Alice Bray, The Baby’s Journal. New York: Anson D.F. Randolph & Co., ca. 1885.
Part picture book, part mother’s diary and gift register, The Baby’s Journal was lithographed by Louis Prang & Co., a Boston firm that specialized in fine parlor prints, albums, and high-end books. This book is inscribed with the name of Francis West Wardle, who arrived on Sunday evening of February 15, 1891. His mother writes, “He was a plump, healthy baby weighing 10 pounds, with a large quantity of dark brown hair, and blue eyes, as good a baby as ever lived.”
