This daybook records the business transactions of a blacksmith working in the towns of Webster and New Salem, Massachusetts.  Elon Haskins (c. 1812-1887) was born in New York and worked as a blacksmith in Webster, moving to New Salem in March 1853.  Daily entries contain accounts for work such as shoeing horses and oxen, repairing wagons, as well as the purchase of supplies for his business.
