All of the Arkansas newspapers are scarce in this year’s adoptions. Like most southern newspapers these were vulnerable to the ravages of climate and war. The Arkansas Advocate began in 1830 by Robert Crittenden to oppose the politician and publisher of the Arkansas Gazette, William Woodruff setting off the first newspaper “war” in the state.

Adopted by Susan and Luigi Ceccacci
