You Would Be Nuts Not to Adopt Me
The World in a Nut Shell (Boston, MA). Aug. 26, 1833, vol. 1, no. 7.
This is one of the first penny press papers of Boston. The goal of many newspaper publishers in the big cities was to find a way to produce a daily paper that could be sold for one cent. The balance between cheapness and profitability was quite fine and many went out of business. Like other titles, The World in a Nut Shell was a lowbrow paper aiming for a mass audience of readers. It lasted at most a year before disappearing.
